Northern Arizona is a vast rural area covering thousands of square miles, including one of the largest areas of national forest in the
country (Coconino National Forest), and of course the Grand Canyon.
It's vast landscape expands through a land mass that is larger than most
countries. It includes cities like: Flagstaff, Sedona, Prescott
Valley, Kingman, Page, Snowflake, Winslow, Williams, and many other cities.
Much of this land is undeveloped and is home to numerous
unique Native American tribes including: Navajo, Hopi, Yavapai, and
Apache. A large portion of our clients are Navajo and Hopi women, children and elders. We are working hard
to fight hunger and malnutrition in our region. Many of these people are living in extreme poverty with no running water or electricity,
basic services that most of us take for granted. Unemployment on the reservations remains at close to 50%, reaching as high as
90% in some areas. 51% of homes on the Navajo reservation lack complete plumbing. |
